FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW MANY DOGS CAN I BOOK IN AT ONCE?
One. We like to make a trip to Barclay Garage a relaxing one for our dogs and though there may be some overlap of dogs visiting we try not to use the kennels unless we have too. We have one groomer and one dog at a time.
WHY DOES EACH GROOM TAKE SO LONG?
Each dog is unique and has unique needs that must be met. Bathing and drying a dog alone can take up to 1.5hrs, let alone, de- matting, trimming nails etc. We like to take our time with each dog and make it an enjoyable experience for all involved.
WHY ARE MATTS SO BAD FOR MY DOG?
Matting in dogs often prevents blood from circulating properly. Matts are often formed around high friction areas such as behind ears, under arm pits and near the tail. They are very painful and dangerous. Barclay garage believes in humanity over vanity and though we will attempt to brush as much as we can, if it is detrimental to the dog, we will shave them.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY DOG GROOMED?
A well cared for dog should be groomed every 6 weeks if not more. If brushing is maintained at home, then dogs may only need a maintenance (seasonal groom) to keep them tidy and more importantly comfortable.
DOES MY DOG NEED TO BE VACCINATED?
Yes. Proof of vaccinations are essential for the safety of your pet.
HOW WILL YOU LOOK AFTER MY SENIOR DOG OR MY PUPPY?
We treat each dog as an individual with it's own unique needs. We've built stairs going directly into our bath, so no lifting is required. We offer padded flooring and have a hydraulic table so no jumping around on sore old joints. Puppies are encouraged to have short visits to help them get comfortable being here. Plus we have lots of treats!
